Full pipeline AI recruiter compared to a voice-first interview platform.
What Ribbon is
Ribbon is a voice-first AI interviewing platform headquartered in Toronto, Canada. Founded in 2022 by Arsham Ghahramani and Dave Vu, the company raised $8 million in a funding round in March 2025 led by Radical Ventures with participation from Social Leverage, Cadenza Ventures, and GD1. As of 2026, Ribbon reports over one million AI interviews conducted across 400+ companies.
Ribbon's product is focused on automating the early-stage phone screen. Recruiters create a structured interview template, generate a shareable link, and send it to candidates. Candidates click the link and complete a voice interview on their own time, asynchronously. Ribbon produces transcripts, AI-generated summaries, and structured scoring. The platform supports 10+ languages and integrates with 45+ applicant tracking systems.
Ribbon targets high-turnover industries: manufacturing, logistics, food services, healthcare, and retail. Their pitch is speed. Traditional time-to-interview is measured in days. With Ribbon, it takes minutes. Candidates can interview at midnight on a Sunday if they choose to.
Ribbon's pricing starts at $499 per month for 200 interviews. For teams that need more volume, custom enterprise pricing is available.
The fundamental difference between Ribbon and Reney
Ribbon is an interview tool. Reney is a recruiter. This is not a nuance. It is the defining distinction.
When you use Ribbon, you have already done the hard work. You posted the job somewhere. You sourced candidates from Naukri, LinkedIn, Indeed, or your own ATS. You received applications. You may have done a preliminary resume screen. Now you have a list of 50 candidates you want to phone-screen,
and you do not want your recruiters spending 13 hours on the phone. You send them a Ribbon link. They interview. You review the results.
Everything before that Ribbon link is your problem. The sourcing is yours. The resume screening is yours. The shortlisting is yours. Ribbon enters the picture only after you have identified who to interview.
Reney enters the picture at the job description. You describe the role. Reney finds 50 candidates, screens every resume, selects the top matches, interviews them, scores them, and delivers a ranked shortlist. You do not source. You do not screen. You do not decide who to interview. You review the final output.
The work that Ribbon assumes you have already completed is the work that Reney does for you.
Pricing in context
Ribbon's $499 per month buys 200 interviews. If you are a high-volume employer running 20 to 30 roles per month and interviewing 200 candidates, that is $2.50 per interview. Competitive. But you are also paying separately for your sourcing (Naukri listings, LinkedIn Recruiter, agency fees) and your screening (recruiter time). The total cost of the hiring process is not $499. It is $499 plus everything that happened before the Ribbon link was sent.
Reney's Rs 1,999 per posting includes sourcing, screening, and 10 interviews. There is no separate sourcing cost, no separate screening cost, no recruiter time for resume review. For a single role, the total cost of the hiring process through Reney is Rs 1,999. That is roughly $24. Additional interviews cost Rs 99 ($1.20) each.

Ribbon makes sense when
Your company already has a strong, established sourcing pipeline. You have an ATS with thousands of applicants flowing in. You have a LinkedIn Recruiter licence or agency partnerships feeding you candidates continuously. Your bottleneck is not finding people. Your bottleneck is the first-round phone screen. You need to interview 200 candidates per month and you do not have the recruiter bandwidth to do it manually. Ribbon solves that specific problem very well, especially for high-turnover industries where speed of screening directly impacts whether a candidate shows up for the first day.
Reney makes sense when
You do not have an existing candidate pipeline. You do not have an ATS full of applicants. You do not have the sourcing infrastructure to generate a list of people to interview. You need someone to go find the candidates, read their resumes, identify the best ones, interview them, and come back with a recommendation. You need the full job done. Not the last mile. The full journey from job description to shortlist.
Can you use both?
Technically, yes. If you are a large organisation with both high-volume roles (where Ribbon's 200-interview capacity is useful) and ad-hoc roles (where Reney's full pipeline is useful), you could use Ribbon for your internal referral screening and Reney for roles where you need external sourcing. In practice, most Indian SMBs will find that Reney covers both needs at a fraction of the cost.
